Every first Saturday in August (Download Flyer Here), the Greater Marion Area Chamber of Commerce has the annual Marion Sausage Supper. The morning of starts out with the Sausage Supper Parade, Trade Days, live music from local bands, and activities for children and adults. Proceeds of sausage plates goes to the Marion Chamber in order to fund for the other Marion Chamber Events.
Since 2008, Pannas Fest was formed by the chamber in order to bring out of town tourists to Marion. Pannas is a German dish with seasoned pork meat mixed with corn meal. The mixture can be deep fried, pan fried, oven baked, microwaved, or just eat it raw depending on the recipe each Pannas Fest Cookoff contestant used. Not only does Pannas Fest consists of a Pannas Cook-off but a Pannas Eating Contest, winter activities for kids, Trade Days for shoppers, and memories to last.
Trade Days
Trade Days happens in October (as a stand alone event). Otherwise, area vendors would participate in Trade Days in conjunction with fun Marion Events like Pannas Fest and Marion Sausage Festival.
Miss Marion
Since 2009, after the break from 2002, Miss Marion is an event where Marion High School teenage girls try out for the Queen, Princess, Dutchess, and Court of Honor(s) positions to represent Marion at various events throughout Guadalupe, Comal, and Wilson counties during the year they are in the Miss Marion Court. Each year, the winners receive prizes from Marion area businesses (2011 were savings bonds). During the tryout, each contestant models in 3 outfits of their own choosing while promoting their sponsors and their favorite local charities. After a short intermission and introduction of visiting 'royalty' from around the area, the ladies modeled their ball gowns and each answered the mystery question they drew at random.
